About Us

I first started working with trees in my early twenties as a climbing arborist, and quickly knew I’d found my calling. Over the years I worked my way up through the industry, gaining valuable hands-on experience and building a deep respect for both the science and the beauty of trees. Eventually, I relocated to Wales, where I founded Black Mountains Tree Consultancy, bringing together everything I’d learned to provide clear, professional advice with a personal touch.

I’ve always had a thing for trees. Most of my career has been spent outdoors, and I’m happiest when surrounded by nature. My work has taken me from the historic colleges and parks of Oxford to woodlands, estates, and private homes across Wales and the surrounding counties. Along the way, I’ve developed a reputation for being approachable, thorough, and down-to-earth, while delivering reports and guidance that people can rely on.

As a fully qualified and insured consultant, accredited by both the Royal Forestry Society and Lantra, I now specialise in tree safety and condition surveys, BS5837 planning surveys, subsidence and mortgage reports, tree inventories, and soil care. With over 20 years in the industry, my goal is always the same: to give you confidence in the decisions you make about your trees.
